Aligning Mental Wellness Purposefully

If people could take one pill that would add longevity to their lives, act as a neuroprotectant, decrease heart disease, and reduce stress — it would be purpose.

Yet, we are in a crisis of purpose. Our mental health burden is skyrocketing — exacerbating an existing provider shortage. Many view this as an earthquake with an anticipated tsunami on the horizon: AI’s looming job displacement is at our doorstep. Unemployment is historically correlated with a sharp rise in suicide — especially among men.

Mental health innovation, stalled for decades, is embracing psychedelics and other consciousness modulating interventions with a “breakthrough” designation out of necessity. Our mental health crisis is viewed by many policymakers as an issue of national security for its weight on our economy and healthcare system.

While psychedelics and neuromodulators can breakthrough the electrical dampening of depression, reset an overactive amygdala in PTSD, and presence the future-forecasted mind in anxiety — they do something much more important.

These powerful tools provide fertile ground, a neuroplastic window, for accelerated learning and behavioral change. While the politics of clinical trials and for-profit healthcare, decoupled integration from psychedelic medicine, research conclusively shows it is integral — doubling result longevity, while mitigating risks.

Psychedelic integration is critical for integral care — and for the current trajectory of our adoption of these medicine. These evidence backed protocols teach people to self-attune towards what is adaptive for their livelihood, so like a dog chasing its tail, we do not end up where we started — chronically dependent on large interventions.

Psychedelic medicine is most powerful when combined with the northern compass of purpose. In the age of AI, this is more important than ever as people reskill not just towards their careers, but their beliefs about what is meaningful to them beyond a traditional employment-purpose conflation. Now is the time to create a precedent as these tools are increasingly adopted by the mainstream.

PSA: Friends don’t let friends — skip psychedelic integration.
